October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Knowledge is Power

First Published in the Beacon Magazine

In 2014 there were 4,987 reported incidents of domestic violence in Palm Beach County. This is 1/7th of the actual number of incidents that occurred in our communities. There were 11 individuals who died at the hands of someone they thought loved them. We mourn these senseless deaths along with all those who have died so tragically throughout the world.

There will be a worldwide moment of silence on October 1 at 11 a.m. to remember and honor these victims. At the local level, Our Sister’s Place, Inc. is sponsoring an event on October 15 at 8 p.m. at Harbourside Place in Jupiter to raise awareness and join together to end domestic violence in our community. Please join us as we “Shine A Light” on domestic violence. Together we can take a stand, show our support and be a part of the solution!
